Hadingham Kirk is an Oxford based family business founded on one belief. All our work to date has been on recommendation and that is down to our team. We all have the same positive attitude and our focus on attention to detail, quality workmanship and nurturing positive customer and collaborative relationships bring great results.
Simon Hadingham
Co-Director
Following his Art and Design degree and his training as a Joiner, Simon spent most of his working life in high-end commercial design and construction with a temporary diversion into geophysics before returning to construction and working on projects like Canary Wharf.
In a life-changing moment Simon realised that his long-standing love of the outdoors could be combined with his skills in design to create amazing landscapes. Simon Hadingham Design was formed and when Simon met Mike this grew into Hadingham Kirk.
Simon is driven by innovative design and a commitment to nature. He has an almost obsessive attention to detail and a strong desire to put a bit back into this world which as he says is now implemented by his close-knit team of experts and the best partnership he could wish for. In the rare occasions Simon is not at work, he can be found either building his own house or up a mountain somewhere.
Mike Kirk
Co-Director
Together with Simon, Mike created Hadingham Kirk in 2014. From a farming family, Mike’s love of the outdoors was at the heart of his upbringing and this combined with his degree in Agriculture from Newcastle University drives his innate understanding of plants, trees and landscapes.
Mike loves working with people, and meeting with clients, discussing proposals and creative problem-solving are very much at the heart of his day-to-day activity. Mike will be your first port of call from the beginning to the end of the project. With his knowledge and expertise, he will be on hand to develop your ideas and guide them through to fruition. In contrast to his hectic days when Mike is not at work he can be found in his own garden tending to his hive of honey bees.
Gerard Borthwick
GENERAL MANAGER
Gerard has over 10 years’ experience as a Joiner and Shipwright at Oxford University’s Engineering Workshops and at yacht mast and glue lamination specialist Collars. He originally joined Hadingham Kirk in 2016 to grow the in-house workshop, creating high-quality bespoke garden studios and timber structures.
Last year, Gerard’s wide-ranging skills and talent with managing teams and projects resulted in a newly created role of General Manager overseeing all the departments.
Barry Hawkins
LEAD Designer
Barry joined Hadingham Kirk with an unusual set of skills. He spent half his career in a design studio and the other half high among the trees as an arborist. He now combines his knowledge of the great outdoors with his passion for design to create beautiful gardens. Barry will work with you through the commission process, providing the visuals to make sure the design is just right for you. Barry takes great satisfaction from seeing his concepts come to life from initial sketches and 3D models, all the way through to construction and planting. His unique background allows him to design spaces that function on both a practical and aesthetic level, and which will grow and be enjoyed for many years to come.

Cath Parkinson
Business Manager
Cath ensures the smooth running of operations behind the scenes. Having owned multiple hospitality venues in the North East, she is more than adept at managing the varied day-to-day demands of Hadingham Kirk. Her role is vital in supporting the staff, prioritising work and maintaining excellent communication with clients. Cath is not only the cheery voice at the end of the phone in Hadingham Kirk’s Oxfordshire office but she also keeps a strategic eye on the development of business. Not to mention, she has the unenviable job of supporting Simon and Mike with their roles.
